Air Conditioner Troubleshooting

During a heat wave of epic proportions, your air conditioner will become your best friend. Even if you’re able to fry an egg on the hood of your car outside, the inside of your home can be the picture of domestic bliss. Your air conditioner is the workhorse of these blistering summer months, and like everything else, your AC can wear down or malfunction.

The most common air conditioner issue is a clogged air filter. Your air filter catches dust and debris to keep them from burning up your air conditioner’s motor. If the filter is clogged, no air can circulate. Another problem could be the blocking off of your air vents. Blocked air vents can cause your air conditioner to freeze up for an extended amount of time.

Your air conditioning duct work could be loose, preventing the cool air from entering your home or preventing the hot air from being pulled out. The air conditioning ducts are generally located under your house, and if a stray animal has taken refuge there, it could pull down your duct work. To avoid this problem, ductless air conditioning units are available. Ductless air conditioning units are perfect for home additions and are very efficient solutions from Champion AC.

There are several more technical issues that could cause your air conditioning unit to malfunction, including wiring problems and low freon levels. For these issues, it’s best to call trained professionals.
